Evaluate Your Options
If you are pregnant and unsure how to feel or what to do next, the All-Options Talkline can provide support and discuss all of your options with you.
Abortion is legal in Illinois. If you need help to travel to Illinois, the Chicago Abortion Fund or Midwest Access Coalition may be able to assist you. If you are under 18, you do not need permission from a parent or guardian or to notify them to have an abortion in Illinois.
If you are considering abortion, you may have options about the type you have. In Illinois, both medication abortion and procedural abortion are available to you. Your provider can talk to you about the best care for you. You may also be able to get a prescription for medication abortion through a telehealth appointment and pills may be mailed to you.

Find a Provider
Abortion Finder can help you find a verified abortion service provider. Providers may offer different types of care. Speak with your health care provider about what services they offer.
Anti-abortion facilities, sometimes called Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPCs) or Pregnancy Resource Centers, may have licensed medical providers on staff, but they do not provide abortions.
How to Pay
Most Illinois regulated private insurance plans are required to cover abortion care at no cost to you. The Illinois Department of Insurance has put together information about your rights.
If you have Illinois Medicaid, your abortion will also be covered at no cost to you. If you are eligible but not yet enrolled in Medicaid, your health care provider may be able to enroll you in a temporary, immediate program called Medicaid Presumptive Eligibility to cover the cost of your care. Ask your provider if you may be eligible for this program.
If you need help or have questions about how to pay for your abortion, the Chicago Abortion Fund provides financial support to help people in need of abortion care.
